From our meeting location we will be heading towards the Brindabella Ranges with a scenic twisty descent to the Murrumbidgee River and over the heritage-listed Taemas Bridge with it’s iconic steel trusses. For the more daring a more technical dirt detour will provide a challenging option. After a stop-over at the Tidbinbilla Deep Space Communication Complex we will head along the fringes of the Namadji National Park and through our first water crossing. Then after traversing the mountain and rainforest through the Deua National Park we cross over to the sea for our overnight stop on Mill Beach. Just steps from the sand it is resident kangaroos galore! A delicious 3-course dinner will await at the resort to share our tales of the day
Day 2 – Tuesday 3 December 2024 – SOUTH DURRAS TO PAMBULA
The morning will offer an opportunity for a skills presentation by racing legend turned riding coach Lyndon "Heffo" Heffernan from the Academy of Off-Road Riding, who will share some riding tips with the group - a few great tips even for the seasoned rider can prove invaluable! We then follow the shores of the Clyde River before embarking on our trek south along the coast, past lush rainforests and dairy farmland. Passing through a number of quaint coastal townships will bring us to Pambula Beach, which is our overnight destination.
Day 3 – Wednesday 4 December 2024 – PAMBULA TO JINDABYNE
On Day 3 we head through the green rolling hills to picturesque Candelo. Ascending the winding Brown Mountain pass will be one of the highlights of the day, and keep an eye out for the peacock clan around the truck coupling bay at the top of the mountain! For those with energy to spare there are trails off the beaten track for our run to the boulder-dotted Monaro High Plains before plunging into Snowy River country and a visit to the icon that is McKillops Bridge. Enjoy the spectacular scenery of Kosciuszko National Park and the Barry Way before arriving at our overnight stop on the shores of Lake Jindabyne where we will enjoy a casual dinner at the resort bistro.
Day 4 – Thursday 5 December 2024 – JINDABYNE TO CORRYONG
Today the route will take us through the heart of the Kosciuszko National Park and over the big mountain passes towards Victoria. After lunch some Adventure Biking heaven awaits with 60km of smooth gravel road taking us to the shores of the Murray River. Across the state border we will follow the riverbank past picturesque farmland and pine plantations to our overnight stop at Corryong. Enjoy the mountain views and another relaxed dinner at the hotel.
Day 5 – Friday 6 December 2024 – CORRYONG TO YASS
Our run home today offers plenty of choice for dirt trails off the beaten track but for those wishing to wind down an easy alternate route will take you on mostly sealed roads back to Yass where the ride will end. Pick up your luggage from our Check-Out Point and make your way home from there.
