Day 1 – Friday 6 March 2026 – YASS TO JINDABYNE
From our meeting location in Yass we will be departing around 8am and heading south onto some awesome trails through the Brindabella Ranges, with an optional technical climb to the summit of Mount Corree, before continuing to weave through Namadji National Park. There will be some spectacular vistas along the way as we officially enter the Snowy Mountains towards our fuel stop at Adaminaby. The run into Jindabyne will provide a contrasting landscape showcasing the open high plains and onward past Lake Eucumbene to our overnight destination on the shores of Lake Jindabyne, where we will have a relaxed dinner to share our tales of the day.
Day 2 – Saturday 7 March 2026 – JINDABYNE TO DARTMOUTH
We start a huge Day 2 heading through the boulder-dotted high plains of the Monaro and past the quaint township of Dalgety, with its historic bridge over the Snowy River. It's hard to imagine the town was proposed as the site for the nation’s capital city in 1903 - only losing out to Canberra by 33 parliamentary votes to 39! We continue south on some free-flowing dirt roads
to Delegate before plunging into Snowy River country and a crossing of the icon that is McKillops Bridge. McKillops Road is the southern boundary of the Alpine National Park, with Snowy River National Park to the south of the road. Keep an eye out for some of Victoria’s rare and threatened species that inhabit this rugged terrain, including the long-footed potoroo and spotted (tiger) quoll! Traversing the big mountains and deep valleys of the Alpine National Park will take us through some spectacular scenery of the Victorian high country, including another bucket-list challenge with an optional ascent to the Blue Rag Range trig point, before continuing on to our overnight stop in Dartmouth. A delicious dinner at the pub will await to top off this big day of riding.
Day 3 – Sunday 8 March 2026 – DARTMOUTH TO CORRYONG
Today we traverse the remote wilderness and cross the mountain range with an optional ascent of Mount Pinnibar (weather permitting) with its spectacular vistas before following the mountain ridgeline to Corryong. It will be a slow start to the day making our way through the remote terrain, but the afternoon will provide some free-flowing dirt as we follow the banks of the Murray River past picturesque farmland and pine plantations to our overnight stop at Corryong. Enjoy the mountain views and another relaxed dinner at the hotel.
Day 4 – Monday 9 March 2026 – CORRYONG TO YASS
Our route home today starts with a spectacular run through the heart of Kosciuszko National Park and a visit to Cabramurra, which at 1,481m altitude claims to be Australia’s highest township. We continue along some amazing picturesque twisties before meeting a long powerline track that will take us to Talbingo, set on the shores of the Tumut River, before continuing to the town of the same name. There will be an opportunity to ride through a closed section of the Old Hume Highway, passing through the infamously steep and narrow cutting that in a bygone era was a Truckie's worst nightmare and sadly took many lives. We finish the day off with a long stretch of farmland track along the Murrumbidgee River and some dirt trails off the beaten track. But for those wishing to wind down, a shorter alternate route will take you on mostly sealed roads back to Yass where the ride will end. Pick up your luggage and some cold drinks from our Check-Out Point before making your way home from there.
